Weekend Dive Report

10-11 May 2008

Any diving this weekend should be done on Saturday morning.  By Saturday afternoon, a weather system is forecasted to pass over the island bringing with it strong westerly winds.  High waves and surf are expected along the entire western coast.  Few of the island’s sites will be diveable.  Sunday’s conditions will be no better as the strong winds are expected to swing to the north.

High tides will occur in mid-morning.  Low tides will occur in late afternoon.  Expect little to no current.

This week’s dive tip is a recommendation that you practice sharing air, which is a critical survival skill, at least monthly.  Diving is no different than other physical activities in that you need to maintain your proficiency if you expect to perform the skill in a real situation.  A good time to practice is at the end of the dive, after your safety stop, and before you surface.
