INSTRUCTOR

The NAUI Instructor Training Course is challenging, and, at the same time, highly rewarding. Many instructors say it was the most significant event in their lives. During this intensive ten-day, 90 plus hour course, you'll learn about all aspects of dive instruction. You'll be exposed to curriculum that will give you an understanding of the learning process itself, as well as effective practical application of teaching methods. You'll even learn how to develop your own lesson plans, which is a lost art for most dive instructors. You also learn about the business of diving and how to apply that to yourself. More than anything else, you'll learn how to train and evaluate your students to be safe, competent, and confident scuba divers. Throughout your course, you'll be given objective evaluations of your performance with the exception of the last one, which is highly subjective. That is the final evaluation when the Course Director and the ITC staff answer the question, "Would I trust this person to teach a loved one?" No other agency attaches the importance to you earning your instructor qualification as NAUI does.

A NAUI ITC is not a walk in the park so you must prepare well and expect to work hard. You wouldn't expect anything less of an association that encourages its members to exceed the standards and reminds them that it is more important to train a few students well than certify many marginally trained divers.

*Note:  The NAUI ITC can be tailored to tough schedules and done in many combinations of days or weekends. Prior coordination is required.

Prerequisites

Be currently certified as a NAUI Assistant Instructor or NAUI Divemaster; or be a graduate of a NAUI PREP Course within the last 12 months. Must have at least 100 logged dives. Possess the water skills and ability equivalent to that of a NAUI Assistant Instructor.

Tuition = $850

Evaluation = $335

NAUI Registration = $210 (after successful completion)

Candidate Requirements:

Provide all dive gear necessary for the course. Candidate is also responsible for payment of all applicable fees. Candidate must purchase the NAUI Instructor Kit.
