DEEP DIVER

 

PURPOSE: The IANTD Deep Diver Program trains divers in skills, performance, theory, and planning of deep dives. This program remains within the commonly practiced depth of 130 fsw (39msw), and is the first sanctioned international program to provide proper training in safe deep diving skills and performance.

CURICULUM: Three academic sessions. Two hours of confined water training. Four open water dives. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of the physical forces and physiological effects of deep diving. Information is presented at an advanced level. In addition, there is extensive instruction in deep diving techniques, equipment configuration, dive planning, and breathing gas management. Water work is designed to increase dive proficiency, as well as improve ability to handle stress in a deep environment.

EQUIPMENT: Student provides basic dive gear with depth gauge and watch or computer, compass, slate, redundant air supply, 50lb lift bag, and cave reel.

ADVISORY: Ensure adequate hydration. Begin drinking water 24 hours before dives. AVOID ALCOHOL.
